TOCCATA – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continues its 12th annual WinterFest with Elizabeth Pitcairn In Concert, performing with the legendary Red Mendelssohn Stradivarius violin. The four concert series opens with J. S. Bach’s symphonic choral masterpiece Magnificat, featuring vocal soloists Joy Strotz, Anne Davidson and Becky Earl, sopranos; Liudmila Mullin, mezzo soprano; Brad Perry and Robert Bousquet, tenor; and Chris Langton, Emzy Burroughs and Chris Nelson, baritones. Finalizing the concert will be Elizabeth Pitcairn, guest violinist, performing Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47.  Brian Fox is Tahoe Symphony concertmaster. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.  

 

The performances are  Sunday, February 12, at 3:30pm at St. John Presbyterian Church in Reno (1070 W. Plumb Lane); on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 7pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Carson City, (3597 Sunridge Drive); and on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.).   The final performance will be Sunday, Feb. 19 at 3pm at the Hyatt Regency Hotel -Lakeside Ballroom in Incline Village which includes a gala champagne pre concert celebration.

 

Two special soiree musicale fundraisers will take place at private locations. The first will be at the Supper Club at Genoa Lakes Golf Course on Saturday, February 11 at 3:00pm and the second at a home on Lakeshore Blvd. in Incline Village on Tuesday, February 14 at 5pm.  Tickets are $125 per person.  Elizabeth Pitcairn will perform with pianist Donna Axton accompanying. Vocal soloists, Joy Strotz, soprano; Liudmila Mullin, mezzo soprano; and Brad Perry, tenor will also delight with concert arias and broadway hits.  For more details or to reserve tickets call 787-602-2121.

 

EPIC Concert Tickets are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com. Preferred seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students.   General admission to all concerts is $30 for all adults, $25 for Seniors, and $5 for students 19-23. Youth under the age of 19 are free.

TOCCATA – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continues its Winter MusicFest with the 12th annual presentation of J. S. Bach’s masterpiece, The Passion according to St. Matthew. The first concert of the four concert series will take place on Saturday, April 8 at 3:30 PM at Carson City.

The program will feature selections from Part two of the Passion, and will be performed in English.  Soloists include Daniel Paulson as the Evangelist, Brad Perry as Jesus,  John Rabben as Pontius Pilate, and Chris Nelson as Peter.  Joy Strotz, Annie Davidson and Becky Earl are the soprano soloists.  Scott Deupree performs as the High Priest, with Susan Horst, MaryAnn Helman, Linda Mitchell and Michael Lloyd as the false witnesses. Katie Lauder will play harpsichord continuo, along with Nicholas Haines, cello. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.  

 

The St. Matthew Passion will be repeated on Palm Sunday, April 9 at 3:30pm at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in South Reno located at 100 Bishop Manogue Drive. (775-851-1874), and again on Tuesday April 11 at 7:00pm at St Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe located at 1041 Lyons Ave. (530-544-3533).     The final concert will be on Good Friday, April 14 at 7:00 pm at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Incline Village located at 341 Village Blvd. (775-831-1418). 

 

Tickets are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com. General admission to all concerts is $25 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students aged 19 to 23 with valid ID.  Preferred seating is $35 and $15 for youth/students.   Youth under 18 years of age are admitted free, in non reserved seating, to most regular season concerts in 2017.
