TOCCATA – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus announces its 12th annual production of HANDEL’s MESSIAH with performances in five distinct locations. The Reno-Tahoe-Truckee-Gardnerville communities continue enjoying the wonderful holiday tradition of TOCCATA’s Messiah production.

 

Messiah was first performed in Dublin, Ireland on March 23, 1742 and was conducted by its composer. It continues to be a masterpiece that has left audiences in awe for 275 years. The TOCCATA production is a celebration of the holidays and includes not only favorite selections from Messiah Parts One and Three, but also seasonal carols that the audience will be most welcome to join in singing.

 

The first performance is Saturday, December 9 at 3:00 pm at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village, (300 Country Club Drive). Other performances are Sunday, December 10 at 3:00pm at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in South Reno, (100 Bishop Manogue Drive/ 775-851-1874), on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 3pm at the Douglas County Community Services Center in Gardnerville, (1329 Waterloo Lane.), and on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3:30pm St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe, (1041 Lyons Ave./530-544-3533).

The final presentation will be Saturday, December 23 in the Squaw Valley's Olympic Village Lodge, which will be elaborately & festively decorated for the holiday tradition of Merry Days & Holly Nights. The evening begins at 5:00PM with a hosted Pre-Show Reception and continues with performance commencement at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $60.00 for the show only with general seating; $80 for the reception, show, and select seating.  More information & tickets are available at

The Messiah series marks the completion of TOCCA T A ’ s 12th Season. Joining the TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus for this production are Joy Strotz, Maria Arrigotti, Anne Davidson and Becky Earl sopranos; Jenna Sims, mezzo soprano, Brad Perry and Robert Bousquet, tenors, and Stuart Duke, Emzy Burroughs and Chris Nelson, baritones. The TOCCATA Chamber Orchestra features Brian Fox and Jeff Lindhorst as concertmasters; David Brock, Katie Lauder and Nick Haines as continuo; and William Cates on Baroque trumpet.  All performances will be conducted by Maestro James Rawie.

 

Tickets are available at the door 30 minutes prior to the concert, or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com. General admission to all concerts is $30 adults, and preferred seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students. Seniors enjoy a $5 discount. Students 18-23 are $5, and under 18 enters free.

TOCCATA-TAHOE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS  presents

BRRRoque Masters”     January 4-8     For Release December 20, 2016

TOCCATA – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus kicks off its 12th annual WinterFest with the “BRRRoque Masters” concert series January  4, 6, 7 and 8.  The concert series is dedicated to the memory of Mark Lord, TOCCATA’s principal trumpet player 2007-2014. 

 

The program opens with Mouret’s famous Suite de Sinfonie fanfare, which is better known as the “theme from Masterpiece Theater”, followed by selections from Charpentier’s Midnight Mass.  Händel’s Concerto for Organ in F major will be performed by David Brock, and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos will be performed by Nick Haines and Lou Groffman.   Concertmaster Jeffrey Lindhorst, Rick Stockton and Brian Fox will be the featured soloists in Bach’s Concerto in E major.  The concert continues with Georg Phillipp Teleman’s Concerto for Trumpet, 2 oboes and continue in D major, featuring Josh Dunlap on baroque trumpet.   

 

The concert finishes with Handel’s tour de force for soprano and trumpet, Let the Bright Seraphim, from the opera Samson.  Joy Strotz is the featured soprano, but the January 7 concert will feature soprano Michelle Norris, Mark Lord’s daughter.  David Brock, harpsichordist, and Nick Haines, cello and John Cardosa, bass, perform as the continuo.  Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.  

 

The performances are Wednesday, January 4, at 7:00pm at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Incline Village (341 Village Boulevard); Friday, January 6 at 7:00pm at  St. Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.);  and Saturday, January 7 at 3:30pm at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church in Carson.  The final performance is at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reno, on Sunday, January 8 at 3:30pm (501 California Ave.).

 

Tickets are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com.  General admission to all concerts is $25 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students aged 19 to 23.  Preferred seating is $35 and $15 for youth/students.   Youth under 19 years of age are admitted free, in non reserved seating, to most regular season concerts in 2017.

TOCCATA Continues 12th Summer MusicFest with Beethoven & the Romantic

 

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony continues its 12th Summer MusicFest with

Beethoven and the Romantics AUGUST 6-13 2017     

 

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continues its 12th Summer MusicFest with Beethoven and the Romantics on Sunday, August 6 at St John’s Presbyterian Church in Reno at 4:00 PM (1070 W. Plumb Lane).   The program opens with Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto in G minor Op. 25 featuring Robert Miller as soloist, and continues with Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor, Op. 26,  featuring violinist Alex Eisenberg.   The program concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F major.  The Pastoral Symphony may be the “happiest” symphony Beethoven composed, and celebrates man’s communion with nature.   Brian Fox serves as concertmaster.  Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.

 

Other performances are Wednesday, August 9, 7:00pm at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church in Carson (3680 hwy 395 South.), and Friday, August 11, 7:00pm at at St. Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.). The final performance will be on Sunday, August 13, 4:00pm, at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village.

 

Tickets for this series are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com.  General admission to these concerts is $30 adults, $25 seniors.  Preferred seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students.   Students with ID under 24 years of age are $5, and under 19 are free, in non reserved seating, at most regular season concerts in 2017.    

 

TOCCATA’s 12th  Summer MusicFest continues September 6-13 with the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 Memorial Concert series, featuring Elizabeth Pitcairn performing Saint Saens’ Violin Concerto #3 on the legendary RED Stradivarius Violin.  TOCCATA Symphony Chorus will perform Mozart’s Requiem.

Series Features Mozart Requiem and Saint Saens Violin Concerto #3 with Guest Artist Elizabeth Pitcairn performing on the legendary Red Stradivarius Violin

TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus will finalize their 2017 Tahoe Summer MusicFest with a four concert series beginning Wednesday, September 6 at 7:00pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Carson City (3597 N. Sunridge Drive).  The concert series commemorates the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy. 

The concert will open with Mozart’s solemn symphonic-choral masterpiece, Requiem, with soloists Joy Strotz, Becky Earl, Anne Davidson and Jackie Lengfelder, sopranos; Brad Perry and Chris Nelson, tenors; and Stuart Duke, baritone; and includes the 60 voice Tahoe Symphony Orchestra Chorus.  The Requiem was unfinished at Mozart’s untimely death, but was completed by Mozart’s widow, Costanza and his student, Franz Sussmayer. The concert concludes with famed violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn performing Camille Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor on the legendary Red Stradivarius Violin. Maestro James Rawie, TOCCATA’s Founder and Artistic Director, will conduct all performances.  

The concert will be repeated on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7:00pm at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave), and on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 4:00pm at St John’s Presbyterian Church in Reno  (1070 Plumb Lane).    The final performance of the 9/11 Memorial Concert series will be Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7:00pm at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village (300 Country Club Drive). 

A Soiree Musicale Fundraiser for this concert series will take place on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 4:00pm at the home of Toni Neubauer in Incline Village, Tickets are $125, and may be purchased at http://www.toccatatahoe.com/tickets.html.

Youth/students under age 23 with valid ID are $5 for seating fifteen minutes prior to concert time, and under 18 is free admission.  Preferred/reserved seating is $40 and $15 for youth/students.
