TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony kicks off its 12th Summer MusicFest with

MOZART in the MOUNTAINS  June 11-18 2017     

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus kicks off its 12th Summer MusicFest with “Mozart in the Mountains Series” on Sunday, June 11 at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village at 4:00 PM (300 Country Club Drive).  The program opens with Mozart’s Concertone for Two Flutes featuring Allison Smith and Susan Cross, and continues with Mozart’s Symphony # 39.   From Mozart’s Mass in C minor KV 427 sopranos Joy Strotz and Anne Davidson will perform Et Incarnatus Est and Domine Deus. The concert concludes with Mozart’s famous Piano Concerto #21 “Elvira Madigan” performed by guest pianist Susan Merdinger.  Jeff Lindhorst serves as concertmaster. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.

 

Other performances are Tuesday, June 13, 7:00pm at St. Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.) and Friday, June 16 at 7:00pm at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Carson Valley (3597 N. Sunridge Dr.). The final performance will be on Sunday, June 18, 4:00pm at St. John Presbyterian Church in Reno.

 

Tickets for this series are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com.  General admission to these concerts is $25 adults, $20 seniors.  Preferred seating is $35 and $15 for youth/students.   Students with ID under 24 years of age are $5, and under 19 are free, in non reserved seating, at most regular season concerts in 2017.    All performances are supported by a new grant from Elvira Orly.

 

A festive fundraiser will take place on Thursday, June 15 at 5:00pm at a private home in Genoa.  Pianist Susan Merdinger will perform, and several of TOCCATA’s top vocal soloists and singers from our recent tour to Salzburg will provide vocal entertainment.  A tax deductible donation of $100/person is requested. TOCCATA’s 12th  Summer MusicFest continues July 1-9 with TOCCATA BOPS! featuring selections from Broadway, Opera and Patriotic favorites. The presentation on July 1 at Bartley Ranch Amphitheater is the kickoff for Artown, and Sunday July 2 is part of Incline Village’s “Red, White & Tahoe Blue”. TAHOE SYMPHONY BOPS

TOCCATA-TAHOE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND CHORUS  presents

BRRRoque Masters”     January 4-8     For Release December 20, 2016

TOCCATA – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus kicks off its 12th annual WinterFest with the “BRRRoque Masters” concert series January  4, 6, 7 and 8.  The concert series is dedicated to the memory of Mark Lord, TOCCATA’s principal trumpet player 2007-2014. 

 

The program opens with Mouret’s famous Suite de Sinfonie fanfare, which is better known as the “theme from Masterpiece Theater”, followed by selections from Charpentier’s Midnight Mass.  Händel’s Concerto for Organ in F major will be performed by David Brock, and Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos will be performed by Nick Haines and Lou Groffman.   Concertmaster Jeffrey Lindhorst, Rick Stockton and Brian Fox will be the featured soloists in Bach’s Concerto in E major.  The concert continues with Georg Phillipp Teleman’s Concerto for Trumpet, 2 oboes and continue in D major, featuring Josh Dunlap on baroque trumpet.   

 

The concert finishes with Handel’s tour de force for soprano and trumpet, Let the Bright Seraphim, from the opera Samson.  Joy Strotz is the featured soprano, but the January 7 concert will feature soprano Michelle Norris, Mark Lord’s daughter.  David Brock, harpsichordist, and Nick Haines, cello and John Cardosa, bass, perform as the continuo.  Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.  

 

The performances are Wednesday, January 4, at 7:00pm at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Incline Village (341 Village Boulevard); Friday, January 6 at 7:00pm at  St. Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.);  and Saturday, January 7 at 3:30pm at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church in Carson.  The final performance is at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reno, on Sunday, January 8 at 3:30pm (501 California Ave.).

 

Tickets are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com.  General admission to all concerts is $25 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students aged 19 to 23.  Preferred seating is $35 and $15 for youth/students.   Youth under 19 years of age are admitted free, in non reserved seating, to most regular season concerts in 2017.   

TOCCATA’s 12th Anniversary WinterFest continues February 12-19 with Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto featuring Elizabeth Pitcairn with the legendary Red Stradivarius violin, and J.S. TOCCATA Continues 12th Summer MusicFest with Beethoven & the Romantic

 

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony continues its 12th Summer MusicFest with

Beethoven and the Romantics AUGUST 6-13 2017     

 

TOCCATA–Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus continues its 12th Summer MusicFest with Beethoven and the Romantics on Sunday, August 6 at St John’s Presbyterian Church in Reno at 4:00 PM (1070 W. Plumb Lane).   The program opens with Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto in G minor Op. 25 featuring Robert Miller as soloist, and continues with Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor, Op. 26,  featuring violinist Alex Eisenberg.   The program concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F major.  The Pastoral Symphony may be the “happiest” symphony Beethoven composed, and celebrates man’s communion with nature.   Brian Fox serves as concertmaster.  Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.

 

Other performances are Wednesday, August 9, 7:00pm at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church in Carson (3680 hwy 395 South.), and Friday, August 11, 7:00pm at at St. Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.). The final performance will be on Sunday, August 13, 4:00pm, at Cornerstone Church in Incline Village.

TOCCATA’s 12th  Summer MusicFest continues September 6-13 with the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 Memorial Concert series, featuring Elizabeth Pitcairn performing Saint Saens’ Violin Concerto #3 on the legendary RED Stradivarius Violin.  TOCCATA Symphony Chorus will perform Mozart’s Requiem.
